Ewald

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot Ewald. He is a 15 year old from Germany, studying here in Michigan for the semester. Technically he is a senior here, but in Germany he has a few more years to go, because they have 13 grades. He was definitely a funny kid half way through the shoot he realized that he may or may not have missed his dads birthday! (but he is hoping it is today!) It was cool to get to know him and find out his interests. I knew once he started talking "camera talk" it was going to be interesting. Ewald likes to shoot still life and food photography, and honestly I give him credit! 

Hopefully his mom will be pretty surprised when these photos show up on her door step just in time for Mother's day! 

ALL THE WAY TO GERMANY THEY MUST GO! 

Now I need to get the rest of these photos done, so they can be printed, and shipped, just in time to make a mom proud! 

Good thing it's a snow day! 

Happy Spring

There are so many exciting things happening in the studio this week.

I took a few photos in Traverse City this weekend.  It is crazy how Saturday I was walking on the beach barefoot and today it is supposed to snow. Dear Michigan, It's Spring! 

Tonight I have a session with a German exchange student! I am pretty excited to meet him and see how he feels about this Michigan weather! 

Cayden

Yesterday in the studio I had the opportunity to shoot 1 year old Cayden! 

He was shy at first, but once we got the camera out he became a natural. 

I thought my work was cut out for me yet again! 

Then... he learned he could run back and forth, so we had his system down, totally drawn to my lights he would run to the first one shake it, and then run across the room to the second one shake it, and then back. 

Exhausting. 

Although it was very nice to have a boy in the studio! (finally) 

He was playful, funny, and well he was wearing plaid! 

I had a great time photographing this toddling tot and I hope I get to do more sessions with the whole family this summer.

Northern Michigan

Greetings from Northern Michigan. 

I am overly excited for summer. I can't wait to be able to use these stairs to do photo shoots on the beach! 

I tried today to get down to the water, but with the snow we got up here yesterday it looked next to impossible! Spring is right around the corner and I can't wait to do on location shoots again! 

I took my camera out today for a few minutes and took a few shots, the day is so overcast and gloomy, I can't wait for the summer when everything is in bloom and not so "blah" looking! 

Riley Mae

Meet Miss Riley! 

Riley is probably one of the most easy going babies I have ever met in my life. I still remember the day I found out she was coming and she is the first baby I've ever gone to the hospital to meet. That day I rushed to the hospital after class to meet the beautiful little girl with the perfect finger nails! 

Now 5 months later she is the perfect baby. You can take this girl anywhere and she will be happy! 

Although a little fussy when hungry, once her belly was fully she was ready for action! 

She was a dream to photograph (and her parents said she was being cranky). 

I had a really hard time picking my favorites! 

Thank you Stephanie and Eric for letting me photograph your beautiful daughter!

I love this next one because she will chew on ANYTHING! (as any teething baby would) We were joking that if we left her long enough she would put the basket in her mouth, and sure enough she did.

Sadie in the studio

Today while wondering around Sadie (my dog) found her way into the studio, I was working at my desk at the time, but had just finished setting up the lighting for a shoot tomorrow. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to get a few shots of the dog in before she ran off. My dog is old and loves to lay down so getting her to "pose" was actually pretty easy. The hard part was getting her to look at the camera (and well you can't even see her eyes so I guess that doesn't really matter). 

Normally I don't do pet photography, but in some case whether it is with a family member, or you just consider your dog to be your kid I will do a session for you. 

Little miss Riley is coming to the studio tomorrow, so make sure you come back and check out her shoot!
